ORCID is pleased to announce Laura Paglione as its new full-time technical director, starting June 4. Laura will be taking the lead on ORCID technical development, building on the work of interim technical director Geoff Bilder, who will be returning to CrossRef at the end of June. Reporting to ORCID Executive Director Laurel Haak, Laura will be responsible for everything from the underlying ORCID architecture to the look and feel of the user interface. Among her first tasks will be developing the ORCID launch plan and working with stakeholders to validate requirements for ORCID services.
Laura comes to ORCID from Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT), where she was VP of Operations. Previously she was Director of Advancing Innovation at the Kauffman Foundation,where she directed the efforts of the iBridge Network, an innovation catalyst for university collaboration and technology commercialization. She has also served in technical positions at Ford Motor Company, Avid Technology, and several start-up/gazelle companies. Laura has a track record of leading, launching and turning around high-profile initiatives, the most visible of which was for Ford Motor Company’s Board of Directors.
Laura earned her Master of Business Administration from the MIT Sloan School of Management, her Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Brown University, and her Bachelor of Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.
