Researcher accounts in the Local Contexts Hub can now be added to ORCID records.
We are pleased to share an update from our partner Local Contexts, which creates a digital environment for Indigenous communities to exercise authority and sovereign rights over their intellectual property, cultural, and other heritage, genetic resources, and knowledge.
Local Contexts supports Indigenous data sovereignty by creating a digital infrastructure for community governance of Indigenous data. The Local Contexts Hub, a website that facilitates the use of the Local Contexts Labels and Notices, has been bi-directionally integrated with ORCID. Now, the researcher’s Local Contexts researcher account and ORCID iD are displayed across systems. In the future, we look forward to the synchronization of data between the Local Contexts Hub and ORCID.
What’s new for Local Contexts Hub researchers?
While researchers could previously link their ORCID iD to their Local Contexts Hub researcher account, this update now allows the Hub account to be listed directly on the researcher’s ORCID record, improving interoperability between systems

Existing users should reconnect your ORCID record
If you previously connected your ORCID iD to the Local Contexts Hub, you will need to re-establish this connection within your researcher account settings in the Hub. For new users, the option to connect your ORCID iD is available during registration.
These updates continue to build the research infrastructure that enable interoperability between systems across the global research community.
As the Local Contexts Hub-ORCID integration continues to expand, Local Contexts invites ORCID users to reach out with suggestions for future updates.
