A consortium of Catalan universities have announced they will be using ORCID as their standard researcher identifier. Included are the Universitat de Barcelona, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Universitat de Girona, Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Universitat de Lleida, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, Universitat Ramon Llull, Universitat de Vic and the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya.
Linkages across systems between researcher name variations and between researchers and their works is essential for the forthcoming Portal de la Recerca de Catalunya, an initiative of the Direcció General de la Recerca. The Consorci de Biblioteques Universitàries de Catalunya (CBUC) and the Centre de Supercomputació de Catalunya (CESCA) are working together with the participating universities to support aggregate queries of the research produced at Catalan universities.
More about the initiative is available on the CESCA Website: in Català, Español, and English.
