Any author where their publisher uses Crossref for their DOI registration can benefit from the Crossref auto update integration.
Publishers need to include the authenticated ORCID iDs for their authors within the metadata sent to Crossref at DOI registration.
Crossref will then request permission from the author via a notification to their ORCID inbox to update their ORCID record with this publication and any new publications from any publisher.
