Navigating Challenges in Peer Review: Perspectives from University Presses and Associations
ORCID celebrated Peer Review Week last month with a special session to discuss its unique challenges, including reviewer selection, maintaining impartiality, and managing reviewer workloads. A distinguished panel from university presses and associations joined ORCID’s Brian Minihan, Engagement Lead for Global Consortia to cover the following topics:
- Current Trends, Challenges, and Innovations: Explore how different communities are adapting to the changing dynamics of peer review.
- Impacts and Developments: Understand the effects of the Public Access (“Nelson”) Memo in the US and Open Access (OA) mandate compliance.
- Maintaining Quality and Integrity: Learn best practices for upholding rigorous standards while managing increasing submission volumes.
- Technology and Tools: Discover the role of digital solutions, including ORCID, in streamlining the peer review process and the potential impact of AI.
- Collaborative Community Review: Examine the possibilities that collaboration presents for creating value-driven review and publishing workflows.
I’m a Member, Now What?!—How to talk about ORCID
Our sixth I’m a Member, Now What?! session focused on how to talk about ORCID. How well and how often you talk about ORCID’s value can influence the success of your own integration and the level of satisfaction your researchers have using it.
In this session, ORCID’s Director of Communications Julie Petro presented strategies, resources, tips, and tools for how to communicate about ORCID to increase researcher adoption within your organization, and how to communicate about ORCID with colleagues to garner support for integrating systems with ORCID’s Registry.
