Researchers and contributors may now link education and employment affiliations to their ORCID Records. The addition of affiliations allows researchers to further distinguish themselves from those with similar names, and enables greater information sharing with the resources they use that connect to their ORCID Record information.
With this release, researchers may manually add this information from the My ORCID Record page (sign in required). Several ORCID Member research institutions and other organizations also are creating links to import affiliations into researcher’s Records. Look for these tools in the coming months. For more information about how to use this new functionality, see our knowledge base article: Add Education & Employment: Website User
About the Organizations
As described in an earlier announcement, ORCID has been working closely with Ringgold for the organization list used in the Registry. Ringgold is an ISNI registry agency for organizations. We encourage users to select organizations from the pick list when creating an affiliation because doing so will help enable search features. If an organization is not found in the pick list, one can add it by simply typing the full name and location information. You can learn more about ORCID organizations in our knowledgebase article: Organizations in ORCID (Ringgold Identifiers)
ORCID Current and Prospective Member Organizations
If you are a prospective ORCID Member organization and would like to learn more about how your organization can join, please see our Membership Page for more information.
For current member organizations, we are working with Ringgold to ensure that your organization is included in the organization pick lists. If you are a current member planning to add education or employment affiliations on behalf of researchers, please Contact Support for more information and for the organization identifiers to make unambiguous affiliation connections to your organization.
