Now in the third full year of our current From Vision to Value: ORCID’s 2022–2025 Strategic Plan, we continue to build momentum toward our vision of a world where all who participate in research, scholarship, and innovation are uniquely identified and connected to their contributions across disciplines, borders, and time. The progress we’ve made in 2024 across our five strategic areas — Increasing Value to Members, Increasing Value to Researchers, Increasing Global Participation, Upholding Trust and Integrity, and Improving Staff Experience — demonstrates the growing value of ORCID as an essential piece of global research infrastructure.
We’re especially proud to share the following highlights from the past year:
- We helped our member organizations understand how ORCID helps address the research integrity crisis with new Record Summaries and messaging around our Community Trust Network and Trust Markers.
- We harnessed automation to improve data quality and reduce the effort required to maintain ORCID records. Our new affiliation recommendations and validated email domains have had a huge impact on key metrics such as active populated records and records with validated items.
- Our Global Participation Fund (GPF) is achieving its aim of increasing global participation. We welcomed two new consortia — Lebanon and Nigeria — and celebrated strong growth in others, including the LATAM Regional Consortium.
