The year 2022 was a remarkable year for ORCID, and we made progress on key initiatives. Most notably it was the 10th anniversary of the launch of the ORCID Registry, deserving of time to reflect and celebrate, while looking ahead to all that we envision for the next decade and beyond.
Last year also marked the launch of an exciting initiative aimed at helping level the playing field in ORCID adoption internationally: ORCID’s new Global Participation Program. This program, funded by the generous support of some of ORCID’s original lending partners, was developed specifically to bridge the ORCID participation gap and improve visibility and equity of access to interconnected research infrastructure for researchers in currently under-represented regions, particularly in the Global South.
Additionally, we also made strides to begin bringing core sections of the ORCID Registry into compliance with the WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standard. The changes we have made in response to the report will help ensure an optimal experience for every user regardless of how they access and interact with the ORCID Registry.
We invite you to dive into our Annual Report for 2022 and learn more about these and other activities that made 2022 such an incredible year for our organization and the researchers at the center of our work.
And if you missed the ORCID Community Town Hall, held in late March, we invite you to watch the recordings of it any time! The ORCID senior team shared the progress we made in 2022 and gave a special preview of our plans for 2023.
