The ORCID Board plays a vital role in helping steer the organization, providing input on our strategy, feedback on our activities, and representing the wider community we serve. We held our first community Board elections last year, and we are now seeking nominations for Board members to serve from 2018-21. As well as five representatives from ORCID member organizations, we plan to appoint a second researcher to the Board, who need not be affiliated with a member organization.
The Nominating Committee, led by our current researcher member, Richard de Grijs, will be drawing up a slate based on member recommendations. They will take into account sector, region, skills, and non-profit status requirements, to ensure a balanced representation of Board members, as established in the ORCID bylaws. The Board is also looking for individuals who can bring a mix of skills to the organization – technical, financial, non-profit management, research office, data protection, library, data protection/privacy, and more.
Do you or someone you know at an ORCID member organization meet these requirements? Are you passionate about improving the research infrastructure by helping us achieve our vision of a world where all who participate in research, scholarship, and innovation are uniquely identified and connected with their works and affiliations across disciplines, borders, and time? Do you want to get involved with our thriving young global organization?
If so, please be sure to complete this nomination form by close of business on August 1.
More information about the Nominating Committee, the timetable and process, and Board member responsibilities can be found in this post by RIchard de Grijs, and if you have any questions, please contact [email protected].
We look forward to hearing from you!
