ORCID believes that ORCID should be open and accessible to all, in order to serve the global community and move toward our vision of a world where all who participate in research, scholarship, and innovation are uniquely identified and connected to their contributions across disciplines, borders, and time.

According to the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), for an online technology to be accessible, it must be, “designed and developed so that people with disabilities can use them.”  To align with this initiative, an accessibility audit in 2022 served as a catalyst for ORCID to begin the ongoing work of making significant accessibility improvements within the ORCID Registry.
