In 2023, ORCID improved our upgraded Certified Service Provider Program by introducing criteria based on workflows unique to Research Information Systems, Manuscript Submission Systems, Grant/Facility Submission, and Repository Systems. This year, we are adding criteria to certify Discovery Systems.
ORCID is a community-driven organization that strives to work as openly and transparently as possible. So as with last year, we encourage vendors, those responsible for reviewing and selecting vendor systems, workflow experts, and users of discovery systems, as well as other interested members of the ORCID community, to review and comment on the draft certification criteria for Discovery Systems until 29 February 2024.
Certified Service Providers enable efficient ORCID adoption
Service Providers (SPs) that have pre-built ORCID functionality in their products and services enable hundreds of ORCID members to gain value from their membership in the quickest, simplest way, by providing a means to easily integrate ORCID into their local workflows and systems and provide a more consistent user experience for researchers when they encounter ORCID. Our members frequently ask us which scholarly service providers have the best ORCID-enabled product functionalities when reviewing and selecting new systems to meet their needs. ORCID encourages all providers of scholarly information services to integrate with our Registry AND to become an official ORCID Certified Service Provider (CSP). Certification is free of charge, and you do not need to be an ORCID member to certify your system.
We welcome your feedback!
We encourage vendors, those responsible for reviewing and selecting vendor systems, workflow experts, and users of discovery systems, as well as other interested members of the ORCID community, to review and comment on the draft certification criteria for discovery systems. The draft will be open for comment until 29 February 2024. We expect to add this new criteria to our CSP Program in early 2024.
