ORCID hosts Outreach meetings twice a year. This year we are mixing things up a little bit, and hosting a joint conference and codefest with CASRAI, one of our strategic partners. The meeting will be in Barcelona on May 18 and 19, kindly hosted by the University of Barcelona. The conference theme is interoperability standards in research evaluation, with an emphasis on emerging practice in the humanities and social sciences.
Among the challenges in research evaluation are questions of data quality, completeness, and increasingly, relevance. Are we measuring the right things? How can we expand otur view of scholarly and research activity? How do we capture impact? How do we streamline reporting for researchers and administrators? Our meeting will focus on the use of digital information and more particularly, the use of data interoperabilty standards to address these challenges.
We encourage practitioners, service providers and experts in the field to join us and share your work in this area, and in particular how you are using persistent identifiers, ontologies, and data exchange standards in research evaluation practice. If you are a coder interested in software interoperability, we invite you to register for the codefest. If you are a practitioner or policy maker, we invite papers and posters on topics such as:
- Assessing research impact
- Innovations in metrics for research evaluation
- New tools and systems to support the collection and analysis of impact information
- Rewarding innovation in the Humanities and Social Sciences
- Standards for improved research information
- Research data citations and re-use
- Interoperation of research information systems and unique identifiers
For more information, see the call for papers on our conference site. The submission deadline is March 15. Proposed papers and posters will be reviewed by our distinguished programme committee, chaired by David Baker (Executive Director, CASRAI) and Prof. Marta Soler Gallart (Professor of Sociology, University of Barcelona and ORCID Board member).
Registration for the conference will be opening soon. And remember, ORCID Outreach events are free to attend. To help ensure community accessibility, we are seeking meeting sponsors.
See you in Barcelona!
