When we thought about the year ahead of us in early 2020, we suspected it might be a good time for us to reflect on what we’ve achieved in ORCID’s first decade, and think about how we wanted to move ahead into the future. Little did we know we (as in, all of us on the planet!) would have a year of unprecedented challenges ahead of us.
As ORCID Executive Director Chris Shillum says in his Annual Report message (page 6): “The COVID pandemic which challenged the world in so many ways this year has brought renewed emphasis on the importance of scholarship and global cooperation. We hope that in a small way, our work at ORCID helps researchers find each other, trust each other, and work more rapidly together to solve critical problems and meet unprecedented opportunities that face the globe today.”
