At ORCID, we believe that the global challenge of upholding research integrity is one that requires community-driven solutions. Join us for this provocative webinar series where we invite thought leaders and experts in research, cyber security, and more to share their insights about trends and emerging solutions.
The integrity of the scholarly record depends on the accuracy of the data that supports it. For publishers, the shift toward “upstream” solutions is no longer optional; it is a critical defense against paper mills and identity fraud. This session will dive into the technical and operational realities of integrating robust metadata collection and persistent identifiers (PIDs) directly into editorial and production workflows. We will explore how automated quality control during the submission process can prevent downstream retractions and ensure that author affiliations and funding data are reliably captured before a DOI is ever minted.
In this session, Research Integrity: Best Practices for High-Quality Metadata, you’ll hear from fellow publishers who have successfully moved from reactive data correction to proactive, systemic integration. We will discuss how high-quality metadata not only safeguards your journal’s reputation but also streamlines the relay of information to discovery services and indexers. While this session focuses on the publishing workflow, we encourage you to also attend our June 2nd session, which explores these same challenges from the institutional perspective.
Though we face significant challenges to uphold research integrity, we remain optimistic that by working together, our community can make meaningful and lasting progress towards a world where all who participate in research, scholarship, and innovation are uniquely — and reliably — identified and connected to their contributions across disciplines, borders, and time. Register for this session to be a part of community solutions for global challenges.
