In this mini training session, we shift our focus to the Asian research landscape. For researchers in Asia, maintaining a distinct professional identity is vital in an increasingly competitive global environment. We will move beyond the basics of the 16-digit ID to explore how ORCID serves as a critical tool for streamlining workflows, ensuring correct attribution, and enhancing the international standing of both individuals and their institutions.

We will demystify the ORCID ecosystem, showing you how “entering data once” can power your entire research lifecycle—from grant applications,manuscript submissions to research outputs management —while ensuring your institution’s impact is accurately captured in global rankings.

In this session, we will cover:

• ORCID 101: What ORCID is (and isn’t) and why it is the essential “digital fingerprint” for researchers.
• The Power of Workflow (Be Found & Cited): A practical look at how the ORCID Member API integrates with universities and funders. We’ll discuss how your employer or grant agency can “push” validated data to your record to save you time and reduce administrative burden.
• Visibility & Rankings (Be Recognized): How clean metadata and persistent identifiers (PIDs) ensure Asian research excellence is accurately reflected in global ranking metrics.
• Membership & Infrastructure: Why institutional membership is the “engine” behind researcher benefits, creating a trusted link between local scholarship and the global research ecosystem.
